Brookfield Education Foundation is proud of it's accomplishments through
the years.
Accomplishments
— July 2007–June
2008
- Developed project
video and new brochure
- Tried town-wide
newsletter mailing. Learned that it is better used to keep donors informed
of BEF activities.
- Installed fundraising
database
- Held ribbon cutting
event for Brookfield TV & Video Studio, which was our biggest project
to date ($35,000)
- Had successful
“Our Big Fat Brookfield Wedding” event, which was near capacity
and netted substantial profit. Governor Rell was at the wedding ceremony.
- Had successful
direct mail fundraising campaign, up 6% vs. previous year
- Funded eight programs:
- Pedometers for
Rise & Shine intergenerational walking program at HHES
- Arbor Day/Bluebird
Day 2008 for Brookfield Community, with educational walking trail
at HHES
- Hand-in-Hand
tutoring program at HHES, with intergenerational tutors
- Heart rate monitors
for WMS Physical Education classes
- Learning to listen
program at WMS
- Visual presenter
at CES
- Worms & Ants
for kindergarten classes
- Gender specific
reading materials for classroom library at HHES
- Agreed to next
major program: the Still River Greenway Interpretive Trail ($20,304),
to be completed in 2009

- Generated $474
from innovative E-4-E program
- Raised substantial
money from signature masked ball, with over 180 attendees
- Had second successful
direct mail fund drive, up 38%, with 9.4% return rate (vs. 15% prior
year)
- Provided seed
money for teen leadership - Capturing Kids Hearts program at Brookfield
High School
- Got “Operation
Respect” banner donated to HHES
- Contributed to
BHS one book program, co-sponsoring Mordecai Gerstein, author
- Committed to matching
funds for renovation of Brookfield Historical Society Blacksmith Shop
at Gurski Farm
- Initiated mini
grant program, with $2,000 allocated to program
- Continued raising
funds for TV studio
- Gained continued
support from McCaffrey Realty Professionals
- Had guest speaker
(Bob Babcock, founder Cheshire and Branford Education Foundations),
motivating us to focus on R&D approach to programs, and initiate
ambassador program
- Increased volunteer
involvement (E4E, mini grant committee, event committee, growing volunteer
list)
- Provided funding
for Key Club start-up at Brookfield High School. This is a student run
organization, which is run like a business, and focuses on child’s
issues. It is part of the Kiwanis Club.
Accomplishments

2004–June 2005
- Shifted major
project focus from greenhouse to community TV & video production
studio.
- Continued to build
awareness via Channel 17 and other local media.
- Designed and printed
brochure, with design donated, and printing done at cost. Gained agreement
to have three town Boards indicating support in brochure. Photography
also done pro bono.
- Funded Anti-Defamation
League program at Brookfield High School, in partnership with Brookfield
Public Schools
- Executed personally
targeted direct mail campaign for TV studio, resulting in 50 local individuals
and 11 local businesses donating.
- Developed E-4-E
program with Brookfield Parks & Recreation Department.
- Agreed to co-fund
author honorarium at Brookfield High School
- Have active fundraising
committee, who are planning Beaux Arts signature event for 10/29/05,
with invitation design and printing donated.
